Janna Leigh Ryon, oboe

Janna Leigh RyonJanna Leigh Ryon is currently a DMA student in oboe performance at University of Maryland, having graduated with a B.M. in oboe from University of Cincinnati’s Conservatory of Music and an M.M. from Yale University. Serving as the oboist of Great Noise Ensemble, she also holds the principal oboe position with the Prince William Symphony Orchestra. Janna Leigh has played extensively with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Fairfax Symphony Orchestras. Previous summer engagements have included the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and touring as a soloist and principal oboist with the Long Island Youth Orchestra. Janna Leigh is an active freelancer in the greater DC area and performs for area organizations on both oboe and piano, including the MMEA and MENC conventions. Janna Leigh currently teaches Choir and Music Theory at Bowie High School, directs the Children’s Choirs at Colesville Presbyterian and Covenant Life Church and actively maintains a studio of oboe and piano students in the Silver Spring area.
